Nestled in a former granola factory in beautiful Santa Cruz, California, no one can accuse the crew at Bonny Doon Vineyard of taking themselves too seriously. Using screwcaps since 2002 is one such indication that this is not an operation built on conventional thinking. Having recently sold or spun off large labels such as Pacific Rim and Big House, Bonny Doon now focuses on making original wines using Demeter-certified biodynamic grapes from their estate vineyards. They are also major proponents of dry farming, a technique that involves little to no outside irrigation. Made in Monterey County, the 2008 Ca’ Del Solo Muscat contains 12.5% alcohol by volume, .8% residual sugar, with 1,530 cases produced.
A true wine of the terroir, the ’08 Ca' Del Solo Muscat reflects the earthy, mineral quality of the soil from which it originates. With hints of melon and an off-dry finish, this wine is great as an aperitif, or as a perfect complement to your favorite spicy Asian dish.
Like many Bonny Doon wines, the Ca' Del Solo Muscat is generally available nationwide, including at Snooth.com and other venues.
