Red Truck 2006 Petite Sirah

Purchased from the Cline family of Sonoma in 2005, Red Truck Wines is owned by industry veterans Dan Leese and Doug Walker.  In addition to a full complement of reds and whites (the latter bearing the ‘White Truck’ name), Red Truck also produces organic Zinfandel, and Sauvignon Blanc wines.  The famous Red Truck label was designed by internationally-known Sonoma artist Dennis Ziemienski.  Their Petite Sirah is grown by the organic pioneering Barra family of Mendocino’s Redwood Valley, and is made with grapes certified by the CCOF.  According to the label, the '06 Petite Sirah contains 13.5% alcohol.

A great value wine, the ’06 Petite Sirah features tastes of dark cherries and plums, infused with pepper and brown spices.  At the time of our tasting, we found it to be jammy with an oaky nose, but not too heavy as some Petite Sirah’s can be.  It was a great match for our gourmet pizza.

From the winery itself, or from numerous other merchants.  We found a bottle at wine.com, although at the present time, only the ’07 vintage is available there.

About $9 - $13 for a 750 ml. bottle.
