With a rich tradition of producing world-class Shochu, Mirin, and Sake, Japan-based Tagara Group has more than 150 years worth of experience and history. Formed in Berkeley, California in 1992, Takara Sake USA shares the same sustainability values that its Japanese parent company has exemplified for over a century. With OCIA certified organic rice grown in the Sacramento Valley, the organic Nama Sake is completely natural, with no preservatives, sulfites, or alcohol added outside of the fermentation process. Slightly dry, this Ginjo-grade beverage is 15% alcohol by volume.
With a full-bodied, dry flavor, the Takara Nama Sake has a soft texture, and is a great pairing for sushi, teriyaki, or other Asian dishes with a bit of spice. We detected a hint of floral on the nose that carried through all the way to the finish.
We found a bottle at our local Whole Foods Market. Also available in selected states from the Takara USA web site.
