The brainchild of Diane Paulson and David Eliasen, Ashland, Oregon's Cascade Peak Spirits, Inc. was the state's first organic distillery, as certified by the Oregon Tilth. Inspired while tasting a Portland-made Medoyeff Vodka in a Eugene liquor store in 2006, the couple set in motion the plans to make their own vodka (that must've been one heckuva drink!), which they knew would have to be organic. After visiting many other micro-distillers and learning the ropes, they published an ad looking for a Master Distiller. Thomas McKenzie of Alabama answered the call, showing his new Oregonian friends the ropes after a frenetic three weeks of working nearly non-stop in the newly-opened organic micro-distillery.
Hand-made with 100% organic ingredients, O-N Vodka obtains its American Rye from nearby Etna, California, with many other ingredients grown even closer to home. The company firmly believes in supporting local farmers, the hallmark of any true steward of sustainability. With less than a year on the market, this green elixir is already finding its way onto the beverage list of many fine restaurants, with more to come.
So far, available widely in Oregon and California (in CA, contact their distributor, CVI Brands for details), with many other parts of the U.S. to follow soon (we hope).
