Headquartered in Emeryville, California, with production in Portland, Oregon, LOFT Organic Liqueurs is the creation of Lisa Averbuch. Designed to do away with the synthesized flavoring of your typical bar concoction, LOFT liqueurs are made with organic fruits and botanicals, sweetened with agave, and produced without any artificial chemicals or preservatives. The net result is a beverage that actually looks and tastes like it would in nature. The four core flavors include Lemongrass, Spicy Ginger, Tangerine, and Lavender Cello, with other varieties available seasonally.
Each flavor can be tasted straight (preferably served 'Fargo winter cold', says LOFT), or mixed to make a delicious martini, daiquiri, margarita, or other favorite beverage. Certified organic by the USDA. and certified Kosher by EarthKosher, LOFT organic liqueurs are 25% alcohol by volume.
The Lemongrass Cello was a medal winner at the 2007 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, one of several LOFT flavors to be recognized at this annual event. The lemongrass comes from a certified biodynamic farm in California, and is versatile enough to be paired with other flavors.
When sampled straight, we could taste the natural sweetness from the agave and natural sugar. We also combined with some silver tequila, fresh-squeezed lime juice, and a splash of soda to make a Lemongrass margarita. The flavors all blended together extremely well, and without the preservatives of your usual store-purchased mix.
While expanding rapidly, LOFT liqueurs can currently be found in many retail locations and restaurants inside California, Oregon, and New York state. They are also carried online by John Walker & Company.
