Our Story
Fiddlehead Farm was founded by Brad Luke and Betsy Carter, each of us having raised our children into adulthood and built meaningful careers before our paths crossed. When we met, we felt a shared calling to the land, and that spark set us on a journey to grow products that help our customers live healthier, fuller lives.
Brad is a United States Navy veteran who later built a career in medical sales, and Betsy spent much of her life focused on operational excellence in the utilities industry. Between us, we worked across many different roles and industries—always learning, always adapting—but what connected us was a mutual belief in wellness, simplicity, and the quiet wisdom of nature.
Our time hiking the Appalachian Trail deepened that alignment; out there, where hierarchies fall away and everyone meets as equals, we found a clearer sense of our place on this earth. We found that tea also creates equality, particularly herbal tea.
When we began exploring where to build a farm, we considered several states, but Kentucky stood out. Its limestone-rich soil, rolling Appalachian foothills, supportive climate, and natural affinity for medicinal and aromatic herbs spoke directly to our vision. So we rooted ourselves here —diving into soil health, regenerative practices, and plant vitality. We studied the regenerative power of worms, attended new-farmer classes, learned from seasoned growers, and toured lavender farms for hands-on wisdom. We also attended coffee roasting, blending and tasting classes, gaining insight into what coffee and tea drinkers consider with every sip.
Today, Fiddlehead Farm reflects that entire journey. From the farm to the cup, everything we grow is guided by our belief that nature already provides what we need—if we nurture it with care, curiosity, and purpose.
